SERVICES
Jones Animal Hospital is able to provide a wide range of services
for pet health, ranging from basic preventative medicine to diagnosis
and treatment of specific medical problems.
PREVENTATIVE
MEDICINE
We recommend and emphasize annual physical examinations to monitor your
pet's health status, obtain information regarding changes in your pet
that you are aware of, and make specific diagnostic and therapeutic
recommendations, as they are indicated. Pets that have conditions requiring
regular medications and/or therapy are often examined more often and
have tests done to monitor the status of their condition(s). At the
time of annual examinations, we will also update needed vaccines, check
for internal and external parasites (e.g. heartworms, intestinal worms,
fleas, ticks, etc.) and monitor body weight and temperature.
MEDICAL
CARE
For situations involving sick animals, we are able to utilize in-house
and commercial laboratory equipment to evaluate tests that are performed
on blood and urine. We have in-house radiology with automatic X-ray
processing and we have in-house ultrasonography and videoendoscopy.
Severely ill patients can be hospitalized and treated on an in-patient
based in cases requiring intravenous therapy and medication and extended
periods of treatment.
SURGICAL
CARE
We are able to use a variety of anesthetic options and pre- and post-operative
pain medications to deal with various surgical problems. We use isoflourane
and sevoflourane as inhalant anesthetics. Our surgical procedures range
from laceration repairs, tumor removals, spays and castrations to the
(often) more complicated procedures such as gastrointestinal, thoracic,
and orthopedic surgeries. Orthopedic procedures include cruciate ligament
repairs, joint luxations, congenital defects, and fracture repairs.
SPECIALIZED
PROCEDURES
In some cases special diagnostic procedures of referral to specialists
may be recommended. Within our group of hospital in the Tri-Cities area,
we have capabilities for laser surgery and doctors with special interests
in behavioral exotic medicine. We also have the capability of referral
to specialists at the University of Tennessee, Virginia Tech, and other
specialty hospitals.
